# OTT app builder: design your streaming app with a live preview

Design your branded streaming app in the browser. Set your logo, colors, corners, menu and home rows, and watch the home, login, profile and splash screens update live on TV, web, tablet and mobile. No sign-up, no code.

This is a free interactive design tool by RentAnOTT. It draws a streaming app on four devices and restyles it as you change the controls. This Markdown version lists every control, its default and options, the presets, the device and screen previews and the exported theme format. ## Device and screen previews

Each device shows four screens: Home, Login, Profiles, Splash.

## Contrast checks

The builder computes WCAG 2 contrast ratios, `(lighter + 0.05) ÷ (darker + 0.05)` on relative luminance, for four color pairs. Button labels switch between black and white automatically, whichever reads better on the button color.

## Exported theme

The builder exports design tokens as JSON, and two short share links that restore the same design, logo included: a preview link that opens a working, browsable demo app in the design on a full page without the editor, and an edit link that opens the builder. The default theme exports as:

## How to design a streaming app that feels premium

Viewers decide in seconds whether an app feels trustworthy enough to pay for. Four choices do most of the work:

- **One accent color, used sparingly.** Reserve it for the primary button, the active menu item and progress bars. If everything is orange, nothing is.
- **A background that lets artwork lead.** Near-black backgrounds make posters glow and hide banding on TVs. Light themes suit documentary, learning and faith catalogs.
- **Corners that match your brand.** Square corners read as cinematic and editorial; pill buttons and round cards read as friendly, which suits kids and family services.
- **Rows in the order viewers need them.** Returning viewers want Continue watching first. Live and sports services should lead with Live now.

## One brand, four screens

A streaming brand has to survive very different screens. On a TV, viewers sit three metres away with a remote, so the menu is a side rail and the focused button wears a ring. On the web, a top menu and a pointer take over. On phones, the menu becomes a tab bar with room for five items. Check your theme on all four before you commit to it.

## Check contrast before you ship

The builder scores your palette against WCAG contrast ratios: `(lighter + 0.05) ÷ (darker + 0.05)`, using the relative luminance of each color. Aim for 4.5:1 for text and 3:1 for the accent against the background.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need design or coding skills to use the OTT app builder?

No. Every control is a color picker, slider or switch, and the preview updates as you change it. Start from one of the five presets and adjust from there.

### Which devices can I preview?

Four: a TV app with a remote-friendly side rail, a streaming website with a top menu, a tablet app and a phone app with a bottom tab bar. Each one shows four screens: home, login, the profile picker and the splash screen. The same theme drives all of them, so you see how one brand adapts to each screen.

### Is my logo uploaded anywhere?

Not while you design. Your logo is read by your browser and shown in the preview only. If you create a share link, a copy resized to at most 512 pixels is stored with your theme so the link can show it to whoever opens it. The exported JSON never includes the logo.

### Can I share my design with my team?

Yes. Share saves your theme and logo and gives you two short links. The preview link opens a working demo app in your design on a full page: visitors can scroll, open titles, sign in and press play, and switch between TV, web, tablet and mobile. It has no editor, which suits clients and stakeholders. The edit link opens the builder with your design loaded. You can also copy or download the theme as JSON design tokens.

### Can I choose which sign-in methods the login screen shows?

Yes. The Login tab lists email, phone number, Google, Apple and Facebook. Show or hide each one and change the order with the arrows; the first method becomes the primary button on the login screen.

### What do the contrast checks mean?

They measure the WCAG contrast ratio between your colors. Body text should reach at least 4.5:1 against its background, and the accent should reach 3:1, so that menus, buttons and titles stay readable on a TV across the room and on a phone in daylight.
